Programming Course

We will be offering a men's web programming course this upcoming winter.

Subjects

The focus of the course will be programming dynamic and interactive websites with the LAMP platform. LAMP stands for Linux operating system, Apache web server, MySQL data-basing and the PHP programming language.
The first class or two will start out with a overall explanation of how the internet works. It will also include a quick background of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. By the end of the second class, we should already be into PHP. MySQL won't come into the picture until 5 to 6 weeks later.
During the classes we will be focusing mostly on the theory, and giving examples to make sure that the material is clear. Course participants will be expected to review and practice on their own time in between classes.
By the end of the course, participants will have a working understanding of how PHP and MySQL operate and interact, allowing them to use the available on-line resources to further expand their knowledge on their own.

Prerequisites

Course participants must have a basic understanding of how to use computers and the internet. Advanced experience in these areas is not required.
Participants must have a laptop which runs Windows XP or later, and has WiFi. All computer programs required will be given out at the first class.

Time

The course will take place in the evenings starting in the beginning of November 2011. There will be one class per week. Each class will be one hour. The course will run for 12 weeks.

Location

All classes will be held in Sanhedria Murchevet, Jerusalem.

Price

The cost of the course is 720 NIS (60 NIS per class). Participants must pay the entire amount in the beginning of the course. Post-dated, monthly checks will be accepted.
